We are currently seeking a Geologist to work in a technical support role with highly skilled professionals on diverse project teams in a dynamic environment. This is an excellent opportunity to join a growing company and get involved in a variety of geotechnical and environmental projects for a diverse range of clients. 
The successful candidate will:
  • Monitor various types of subsurface explorations used to collect soil, bedrock and groundwater samples for the purposes of characterization of below ground conditions and prepare detailed logs of the explorations.  Subsurface explorations could include but may not be limited to the following: test borings, test pits, and geoprobes.
  • Monitor the collection of disturbed and relatively undisturbed samples of granular and cohesive soils using split-spoon and Shelby tube sampling or other means.
  • Classify soil and bedrock samples using industry standard classification systems.
  • Conduct or monitor in-situ testing including but not limited to the following: vane shear testing, acoustic or optical televiewer logging, rising or falling head permeability, Packer testing, static or seismic cone penetration testing.
  • Monitor the installation of observation wells in completed subsurface explorations including well development, well purging and sampling, and collecting water level readings.
  • Assist in coordinating and choreographing subsurface exploration programs with multiple stakeholders and subcontractors.
  • Provide part or full-time field oversight on environmental remediation and geotechnical construction projects as well as inspection of active environmental remediation systems that require ongoing operations and maintenance.
  • Prepare and submit field reports that clearly describe and illustrate project-related field activities.
  • Support senior staff in the preparation and development of Geotechnical Data and Design Reports, Phase I and II Environmental Site Assessments (ESAs), technical specifications or other written documents.
  • Assist senior staff in the preparation of project-specific health and safety plans prior to the start of work and perform all work in accordance with company and client health and safety protocols.
  • Have excellent written and verbal communication and organizational skills and enjoy working in a team atmosphere.
  • Have strong computer literacy skills and be proficient with all Microsoft Office software.
  • Maintain membership in at least one professional society or technical organization in their discipline or primary area of technical interest.
  • B.S. in Geology, Environmental Science, Geoscience or related field (e.g., Civil Engineering) 
  • 0-2 years of related experience, including internships
  • Must comply with the Guiding Principles and Code of Behavior articulated in our Company Charter
  • Must comply with company and client Health & Safety protocols
  • OSHA 40-hr. HAZWOPER training preferred but not required
  • Must be willing and able to travel to job sites and on temporary out-of-town assignments, as needed
