Regional Transportation Market Leader

We have an immediate need for a Regional Transportation Director to expand our growing transportation practice in New York / New Jersey. 

The successful candidate must be knowledgeable in transportation engineering and planning in both the public and private sectors, with existing relationships and contacts within New York and New Jersey. In addition to aiding in the development of marketing strategies aimed at new market penetration and client retention, the Regional Transportation Director will also be responsible for coordinating and overseeing transportation projects in the northeast region. The position demands a proven ability to develop business, manage projects and mentor staff.
  • Lead, manage and develop a dynamic team of industry professionals
  • Generate new business development opportunities and prepare winning proposals
  • Set the strategic direction for the transportation practice in the NY/NJ region
  • Lead go/no go and partnering decisions on strategic pursuits
  • Key client and contract management
  • Serve as Principal-in-Charge or Senior Project Manager on select transportation projects
  • Establish and track project milestones as well as quarterly business goals
  • Involvement and input in key personnel decisions
  • Manage external visibility/promotional efforts
Skills and Abilities:
  • Must have a demonstrated track record of generating new business development opportunities and preparing winning proposals
  • Must be knowledgeable in transportation engineering and planning in both public and private sectors (including transit and rail), with existing relationships and contacts in New York and New Jersey
  • Must be a highly motivated self-starter
  • Excellent verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills
  • Strong presentation skills
  • Excellent teamwork and collaboration skills, including the ability to mentor staff and successfully manage and coordinate integrated services projects
  • Must demonstrate superior ability in collaborative problem solving with stakeholders, clients, and teammates
  • Ability to think strategically and solve problems
  • The successful candidate will have 15+ years of relevant experience in transportation engineering and/or planning
  • New York or New Jersey P.E. license or AICP certification is required
  • Candidate must have a Bachelor degree in civil engineering, transportation planning, or a related field; Master degree is preferred
  • Experience in managing other staff members
